Birthstone Information for March

The first day of spring, Luck of the Irish, Major League Baseball's opening day and the Aquamarine birthstone are all elements in the month of March.

The tranquility of this light blue gemstone brings forth many feelings such as friendship, harmony and trust. In legends it is said that mermaids kept this gemstone hidden in their treasure chests and that it was also considered to bring good luck to sailors.

From the latin "aqua" means water and "marine" means sea and of no surprise since this gorgeous gemstone inspires all to visions of calming, pale blue waters. It is also the most complementing of gemstones, no matter what color your hair, eyes or skin, Aquamarine suits all to perfection.

Aquamarine is almost always free from flaws and displays a beautiful brilliance with colors ranging from the palest, nearly colorless blue to bright sea blue.

The more intense the color the more valuable the gemstone becomes. And even more, some Aquamarine gemstones have a greenish hue which is also common, but the clear blue gemstones are prized as the best.

Aquamarine gemstones are mined in Nigeria, Pakistan, Madagascar, and Mozambique but the finest Aquamarines are found in Brazil where the intensely deep blue gem stones are mined.

All of our jewelry is handmade here in California. What this means is that we purchase the components such as gemstones, beads, and findings and make up a design for each necklace, bracelet or earrings. We then hand-string each jewelry piece and finish it with a clasp or earwires.

Each ring in our collection is either Sterling Silver or 14K Gold. We purchase the settings and the gemstones separately and then mount the stones in the rings after the sizing is done. Most jeweler's will tell you that sizing a ring after the stones have been mounted may cause the stones to become loose. For this reason we do not mount the stones until after the sizing has been done.

Most of our jewelry can be made with alternate clasps with a choice of clasp or earwire/clip style found on the product page when you order.

If you'd like a particular necklace or bracelet length altered just an inch or two there usually will not be any additional charge. Just contact us through our Auto Responder below and we will contact you and let you know.
